Mails about status changes
Suppress the sending of automatic status e-mails
When users are assigned to courses, an e-mail is automatically sent to inform the user of the assignment. These e-mails are sent every time the membership status changes: Sign out or upgrade to course administration.
This is not desirable in many scenarios, e.g. because
- lecturers would prefer to formulate a different notification themselves than the standardized and non-course-specific customizable text of the automatic e-mail.
- users are not yet to be informed at the current time, but only at a later date.
For this reason, an option is provided to deactivate the automated sending of e-mails:
Uncheck the Notify members box if you do not want to send an unattractive automatic text at a time you have not selected yourself. These emails are always annoying and almost never helpful. Lecturers should write these emails themselves and also control the time at which they are sent
Course-relevant general settings
In ILIAS there are several settings that affect groups but are sorted thematically elsewhere in the administration.these are only listed under Administration > Course.to change them, however, you must call up a different view where the setting is sorted.therefore simply click on the Edit settings link of the desired setting and call up the help again there.

Preconfigure printing of the participant list
In the Members of courses and groups tab, tutors and administrators can print out lists of members. You can configure for each course or group whether members should also have this option.you want to specify a default setting for the participant lists that can be printed in courses and groups for your organization
- Open Administration > Courses > Print view settings.
- ILIAS displays the form Default settings for the print view.
- Activate the checkboxes for all data that you want to be included by default in the printout and export of participant lists for courses.
- Click on the Save button.
This default setting can be changed by tutors and administrators in the courses and groups.
Member gallery
Actions for entries in the gallery
In courses and groups, members can also display a gallery of members.
You can determine which actions should be available in the gallery for the entire platform and want to define available actions for the member gallery, which can be activated in courses and groups.
- Open Administration > Courses > Actions in member gallery.
- ILIAS shows a table with all available actions.
- Contact request
- Profile
- Released resources
- Invite to public chat room
- Start on-screen chat
- Add to group
- In the Active column, activate the checkboxes of all actions that should be available in the member gallery.
- Click on the Save button.
The selection of actions can NOT be changed by tutors and administrators in the courses and groups.
