Select standard settings for mediacasts
So-called "mediacasts" (also known as "podcasts") can be created in ILIAS: "Podcasting" refers to the production and provision of media files (audio or video) that can be subscribed to via the Internet. [...] A single podcast (German: ein Hörstück, more precisely an audio file or moving image file) is therefore a series of media contributions (episodes) that can be obtained automatically via a feed (usually RSS)." from: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcast, Stand: 12.01.2010.
The Mediacast administration dialog contains several different setting options for this:
- To limit the selection of possible file types for the standard format of mediacasts, enter their abbreviations in the field File extensions for the standard format, e.g. file extensions for the video format: mp4, m4v, mov.
- To specify file types for special audio or video outputs, proceed in the same way in the File extensions for the video format and File extensions for the Audio format fields
- You can also list all the MIME types you accept, separated by commas. This is necessary because not all browsers have all plugins installed or support them.
