Activate content modules
In order to be able to use so-called content modules as combinations of page content for the ILIAS editor in media objects and pools, these must be activated in the administration. These content modules can be reused in ILIAS learning modules, for example, but cannot be edited there.
You want to activate the content modules.
- Click the Administration entry in the main menu and select the Media objects and pools entry.
- ILIAS opens the Settings tab.
- Activate the Use content blocks checkbox, which allows you to create page content as blocks in media pools.
- Finally, click on Save.
Display the structure of multi-part media objects in the ILIAS editor
In addition to the standard view of a media object, you can also select a full-screen view in the ILIAS editor.
- This option allows only thumbnails of the media objects to be displayed on the ILIAS page, while the objects themselves - linked via the thumbnail view - are available in the background. Standard and full views can be created when the object is originally inserted. By using a thumbnail view, you can make any long loading times for media objects with large file sizes available to users: The original object is only displayed - in a new browser window - if it is explicitly called up.
- Alternatively, it is also possible to use a completely different media object as a full view instead of just scaling the original object smaller. This could be used, for example, to keep a movie available in the background, which is represented on the page by a simple image.to use an additional media object as a full view, the "Files" tab must be called up in the editing mode of the media object.whether this is visible depends on two points: There is an administrative setting "Always show file structure", but this is deactivated by default. For simple data types, such as images, the tab is not displayed in this standard case.
You want to activate the Always show file structure function.
- Click the Administration entry in the main menu and select the Media objects and pools entry.
- ILIAS opens the Settings tab.
- Activate the Always show file structure checkbox.
- Finally, click on Save.
Restrict file types
You can determine which file types may be uploaded in media objects and you want to restrict the file types used:
- Click the Administration entry in the main menu and select the Media objects and pools entry.
- ILIAS opens the Settings tab.
- In the Allowed file types input field, define the file types that may be uploaded in media objects.
- In the Forbidden file types input field, define the file types that may not be uploaded in media objects.
- Finally, click on Save.
Note: Enter the respective file extensions separated by commas (e.g. jpg, gif). If no entry is made, all types are permitted.
