Notes - Introduction
You can annotate learning content and objects in ILIAS.
Prerequisite: If the notes feature unavailable, it is disabled. Please get in touch with your ILIAS administrator.
The lists of notes you have attached to objects are displayed under Notes.
- Use Private Notes to make a digital dog-ear of your content. The Private Notes can only be viewed by you.
- Use the links from these lists to get to the relevant notes quickly.
Add private notes to content.
You want to add a private note to the content. These notes are only visible to you.
- Open Dashboard.
- In the middle block, open the object to which you want to add a private note.
- Now select Notes from the Actions menu in the upper right corner.
- ILIAS opens the Private Notes text box where you can enter your note.
- Click on the Add note button.
- ILIAS saves the note.
Note: The private note is now displayed under Notes. Here you can view all content for which you have written a private note.
You can also create private notes under Notes independently of objects. You can find instructions on how to do this here.
Private notes
Add a new note
You want to add a new private note.
- Click on Notes.
- Type your note in the text entry field.
- Click on Add note.
- ILIAS saves your note.
Delete notes
You no longer need one or more of your notes and want to delete them.
- Click on Notes.
- Select the checkbox in front of the note(s) you want to delete.
Note: Below the list, select Select All to select all existing notes. - Click the Delete button below the list.
- ILIAS will ask you if you want to delete the selected note. Click the Delete button again.
- ILIAS deletes the note(s).
Edit note
You want to edit a private note.
- Click on Notes.
- Click the Edit link on the right below the note.
- ILIAS switches to the edit mode.
- Enter the desired changes in the text input field.
- Click on the Update note button.
- ILIAS applies the changes and reports "Changes saved".
Print or save notes
You want to keep your private notes: You can print them or save them as a file.
- Click on Notes.
- Select the checkbox in front of the note(s) you want to keep.
Note: Select Select All below the list to select all existing notes. - Now you have two options:
- Click the Print button below the list. ILIAS will then generate a printer-friendly output and open your browser's print dialog. You can print the notes or generate a PDF and save it.
- Click on the Export HTML button. ILIAS generates an HTML file you can save and open with your browser.
